Stay in San Miguel de Allende | The Casa Avra Collection
Stay with me

Not everyone has a friend in San Miguel who says, “Come stay with me.”

Now you do.

I'm not an Airbnb host you text through a platform and hope for the best. I live here, in my own home on the property or 5 minutes away. If your coffee maker breaks, if you get sick at midnight, if you're locked out of the house, I'm right there.

One of the first things I ask every guest is for an emergency contact back home. Not because I expect anything to go wrong. Because that's what you do when you care about the people staying with you.

This is true whether or not you ever hire me for anything else. You're not renting a random short-term rental. You're staying with a friend who happens to have multiple homes for you to stay in.

Many of my Live Before You Decide clients stay with me. Others stay elsewhere. Either way, I'm happy to help you make the most of your time in San Miguel.

More than a place to stay

Every Casa Avra stay includes:

A homemade welcome dinner with Audrey and Jorge
A personalized San Miguel consultation based on what you're curious about
Insider recommendations you won't find online
Two locals who genuinely want you to fall in love with San Miguel
The Casa Avra Collection

Three homes. Three neighborhoods, all walkable to the center of town. Three completely different ways to experience San Miguel.

These aren't listings. They're my friends' houses.

Every home in the Collection belongs to someone I know. They trust me to put the right people in them, and they understand what I'm doing here. That's why two of them will rent to someone who might want to buy.

I'm not a realtor. I'm a friend of the owner who happens to know who you are.

Two of the three are for sale. Which means you can live in them first.

Casa Heather · Guadiana

Available August 15 through December 30, 2026

Luxury living in a family home in Guadiana, San Miguel's most elegant and walkable neighborhood.

One of the most beautiful high-end designer Mexican homes in San Miguel, behind an artistic iron door. Every surface, every piece of furniture, was custom designed. Not built to rent. Built to live in.

Mature gardens, fountains, an outdoor entertaining loggia, complete privacy, and a stunning art collection.

The main house, three bedrooms and three and a half baths, is yours entirely. I'll be steps away in a private casita on the property, so even here you're never really on your own.

Casa Piedras Chinas · Zona Centro

The view from every window is stunning.

If you want to live in a piece of modern art with stunning views of the city and the mountains, this is it.

Pedro Alvarado, the architect who led the renovation of El Charco del Ingenio, San Miguel's botanical garden, designed the house around a jacaranda tree. The structure follows the twist of the trunk. The tree rises through an open courtyard of raked gravel and boulders, closer to a Japanese garden than a Mexican patio, and the glass is arranged so the branches are always in the room with you. The architects called her la dama de la casa. The lady of the house.

Inside, three levels. An open kitchen under wood beams with a Carrara marble island and blue and green cement tile. A sculpted white spiral wall curving through the middle of the house. A double-height tree studio with the jacaranda filling the glass. The main bedroom sits inside the canopy, and its bathroom is red Talavera with a shower window that looks straight at a branch. On the roof, an ochre terrace with a grill, a welcoming bench, and the entire Historic Center laid out in front of you. Stunning views of the fireworks.

Fully furnished. Weekly housekeeping included. Two bedrooms, two baths, covered garage. No pets.

Monthly stays. $2,250 USD per month. Utilities run about $300 USD a month on top. Weekly rate on request.

This home is also for sale now, and also part of Live Before You Decide.

“Casa Avra wasn't just where I stayed. It became part of my healing.”

I came to San Miguel completely burned out, looking for an artist retreat.

What I found was so much more.

Audrey connected me with private art classes, introduced me to fascinating people, arranged a private cook, and even built a sukkah so I could celebrate Sukkot while I was there. Through Love in San Miguel I met locals and newcomers who made me feel like I belonged almost immediately.

The home itself felt like a peaceful Mexican embrace. The bed and couches were so comfortable. Morning coffee on the roof with the mountain and city views were transcendent.

I left rested, inspired, and grateful that I found Casa Avra.

Want me to plan your trip?

You've booked your dates. A week, two weeks, a month.

Google and the Facebook groups won't tell you where to spend your time. This is a small town, and the loudest people online aren't always the right people. I know who is.

After a short call, I write you a personalized guide. The restaurants worth your one Tuesday night. The classes taking beginners. The private mezcal tasting in someone's home. The winemakers who'll walk you through the cellar. The lecture at the pyramids nobody advertised.

Most of it isn't on Google. Some of it isn't public at all. I know about it because I'm already going.

A week before you land, I add whatever's actually happening during your dates. It's a last-minute town.

Whether or not you stay with me.

Two of these homes are for sale, and both owners will rent to someone seriously considering buying.

Live in it for two to four weeks. Then decide.

I'm not a realtor. If you're interested I'll connect you to the realtor. If you decide it's not the right house, you've saved yourself from making an expensive mistake.
